However, in some versions, Hades wanted to be king since he was the eldest. In MOST versions of the story, Hades was happy about that position, because most gods weren't fans of him anyway, and the feeling was mutual. When they did so, Zeus got the sky, Poseidon got the sea, and Hades got the Underworld. The main version of the story is that after they collaborated in taking down Cronus and the rest of the Titans, they decided that the most fair way to decide who ruled who would be to draw straws.
